In my opinion, the Board essentially offset the payment! Assuming only a 3.75% wage inflation factor, the Board voted to reduce employer contributions $3/4 billion/year. That's equivalent to an 8% pay raise for State employees. For years, the incumbent: Accepted gifts from those doing business with CalPERS, Sat on both a private investment and CalPERS boards. I'll avoid possible conflicts of interest and abuses reported by the LA Times and Sacramento Bee. I'll work with State and University employees to: Restore tier one and five year vesting, Enhance health benefits, Lower insurance premiums, Increase COLAs/PPP, Reduce contracting out, Improve services/delivery, Keep CalPERS financially sound.
